Occasionally we host Finnish Fridays at our house on the West Side of Vancouver, close to Kerrisdale. Our little sauna seats three adults comfortably (kids welcome too) and yes, you can throw water on the rocks!
It’s almost always a spur of the moment occasion and the food changes every time. It’s always some kind of Finnish dish though. And of course, BYOB to enjoy in the sauna.
Hostess gifts (beer, desert, etc.) welcome but not mandatory. I usually post on Facebook on the Finnish Vancouver page but if you don’t use Facebook, I can e-mail or text you the notice on the days it’s happening. Just send me your contact info: abruinn@gmail.com
If you would like to book a private Finnish Experience, I am happy to oblige! If you’ve got company or are craving a taste of Finland but don’t feel like socializing with us, you can book the Finnish Experience for $20 per person. You can enjoy a private Finnish dinner in our trailer (you choose the menu, I’ll make it and serve it) and use the sauna at your convenience. You will have to use the bathroom in the house but otherwise you’re on your own. It’s as close as you’ll get to a Finnish cabin experience without leaving town.
